reining/cutting at the Calgary Stampede (21 posts)

Went to the Stampede for the first time today. Calgary's light rail system
took us directly there from only a few blocks away from our house. No
driving at all.
Anyway, my favorite this by far was watching a reining/cutting class. It
was the first time I have ever seen one. Each competitor... (Continued)

Difficulty will taking fixed bit (3 posts)

I have a 13 year old Appaloosa mare. She is very well mannered and for the
most part is highly successful. We have been having one difficulty after
another getting her to bit up in a fixed bit of any kind. We have been
riding her in a bosal or a snaffle exclusively. I am hopeful someone may

How horse's recognize people (13 posts)
by Jim Casey - Last post on: 07-20-04 22:08
I had another interesting experience today. It was raining when I
arrived at the stable. I keep a poncho behind the seat for such
eventualities. I donned the poncho in the car, so none of the horses
saw me without it. (I'm convinced that some of them recognize my car.)
I walked through ... (Continued)

Well, there is a grey face in my field again. Moonlight has a

before the second check to see if she is sticking the pregnancy.
She looks great, is out munching grass like she's been starved (she's
been on a good pasture 24/... (Continued)

A friend had a foal born at her barn out of a chestnut paint mare by an
Arabian stud, also a chestnut.
This filly is totally white with 2 blue eyes, she has no darker areas
anywhere. Her skin is pink even on her udder and vulva.
Is this extreme sabino? I never realized (if this is whats going o... (Continued)
Refusing to move/Eileen? (8 posts)

Eileen,
You gave me a lot of useful advise about trailer loading (others did
too) and with your riding expertise I thought maybe you could help me
now. . If Jewel doesn't want to go down the trail she can be
so.....slow. That can be exasperating enough but when she just stops
and won't move ... (Continued)

Bones, my sister is going to Hawaii with her family. Can you give me
information on your trailriding business? Cost, where do you go, how
long are you out there, which island, etc. None of them are horsey
people. Is this something a total non-equestrian can safely do? I
don't know if they'd actu... (Continued)
